Export and regional wine support package: Stage 1: Business plan

From July 2018, the Australian Government introduced changes to the Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) legislation to improve the integrity of support for wine and cider producers, leading to a reduction in the WET rebate from a maximum of $500,000 to $350,000 from 2018–19. To assist the wine and cider industries to respond to these changes, the Australian Government has budgeted a one-off $50 million grant—the Export and Regional Wine Support Package (the package) to assist the industries and wine producing regions to increase their profitability and sustainability by:

  • Growing broad industry participation in export markets and strengthening wine based regional tourism.
  • Increasing demand and value of Australian wine through promotion, tourism and exports.

Stage 1 of the package was focused on developing a Business Plan, which details the activities and measures of success, for submission by 28 April 2017. ACIL Allen Consulting facilitated the development of this Business Plan.
