Proposed ban of a third tranche of single-use plastic items Regulatory Impact Statement

The ACIL Allen team engaged by ACT NoWaste to develop Regulatory Impact Statement for the third trance of phase-outs of Single-use Plastic (SUP) Phase-out in the ACT. Based on the results, the ACT Government has announced the phase-out of single-use plastic plates and bowls, expanded polystyrene loose-fill packaging and expanded polystyrene trays, plastic microbeads in rinse-off personal care and cleaning products from 1 July 2024 and heavyweight and boutique plastic bags (greater than 35 microns in thickness) from 1 January 2024.
